Jornalista, dramaturgo, ensaísta e crítico literário, Mario Vargas Llosa é um escritor consagrado internacionalmente. Nascido em Arequipa, no Peru, em 1936, ganhou notoriedade literária com a publicação do premiado romance A Cidade e os Cães (1961). Mudou para Paris nos anos 60, e lecionou em diversas universidades americanas e europeias, ao longo dos anos.
