Nascido no dia 5 de junho de 1949, em Cardiff, no País de Gales, Follett se tornou um verdadeiro fenômeno de vendas, chegando a atingir a marca de mais de 150 milhões de cópias vendidas de seus 29 livros publicados. O autor de romances como Triângulo, Mundo sem Fim, A Chave de Rebeca, Os pilares da Terra e O Vale dos 5 Leões, cursou filosofia na University College, em Londres. Antes de se consagrar como escritor, Ken Follet atuou como jornalista profissional, mas sempre cultivou a literatura como uma paixão. O primeiro trabalho literário de Follett a alcançar reconhecimento de crítica e público foi o best seller O Buraco da Agulha, lançado na década de 1970. Nos anos seguintes, o autor emplacou outros sucessos, como O Homem de São Petersburgo, Na toca do leão e O terceiro gêmeo.
