DAVID HARE

David Hare nasceu em 1947, em East Sussex, na Inglaterra. Formou-se em letras pela Jesus College de Cambridge em 1968, quando fundou um grupo de teatro em que atuava como diretor. Começou a escrever peças para solucionar um problema repentino com o texto que o grupo encenaria. Desde então, consolidou-se como dramaturgo e assinou mais de vinte peças. A sátira política, implacável com instituições judiciais e religiosas da Inglaterra, é uma das marcas de sua obra teatral. Em 1986, dirigiu Rei Lear, de Shakespeare (1564–1616), com Anthony Hopkins no papel principal. Escreveu também roteiros para o cinema, como os de O leitor e As horas, com Maryl Streep. Em 1998, foi nomeado cavaleiro. É membro da Royal Society of Literature.
