Contando com 129 peças, a mostra Entre a cabeça e a terra: arte têxtil tradicional africana apresenta um conjunto excepcional de tecidos produzidos por diversos grupos culturais do continente, muitos dos quais nunca antes vistos no Brasil. Este catálogo, assim como a exposição, se estrutura em sete núcleos, que perfazem o caminho separando a cabeça da terra, entre os saberes têxteis e a ancestralidade, entre a liberdade criativa e a manutenção das tradições. A maior parte das obras apresentadas integram o acervo da Maison Gacha, instituição franco-camaronesa sediada em Paris, com cuja colaboração a realização da mostra foi possível. Entre a cabeça e a terra tem curadoria de Renato Menezes e Danilo Lovisi.Featuring 129 pieces, the exhibition Entre a cabeça e a terra: arte têxtil tradicional africana [Between the Head and the Earth: Traditional African Textile Art] presents an exceptional selection of textiles produced by various cultural groups from the African continent, many of them never before seen in Brazil. This catalog, like the exhibition, is structured in seven sections, which trace the path between the head and the earth, between textile knowledge and ancestry, between creative freedom and the upholding of traditions. Most of the works on show belong to the Maison Gacha collection, a French-Cameroonian institution based in Paris, with whose collaboration the exhibition was made possible. Entre a cabeça e a terra is curated by Renato Menezes and Danilo Lovisi.
