Ilan Pappe, nascido em Haifa em 1954, é um dos nomes mais importantes entre os chamados “novos historiadores”, grupo israelense que reexaminou criticamente a história da Palestina, do sionismo e do Estado de Israel. É fundador e diretor do Centro Europeu de Estudos Palestinos da Universidade de Exeter, na Grã-Bretanha, e foi professor sênior na Universidade de Haifa entre 1984 e 2006. Por dedicar seu trabalho à denúncia da limpeza étnica do povo palestino, sob uma perspectiva antissionista, Pappe enfrentou pressões e ameaças que o levaram a exilar-se na Inglaterra, onde vive até hoje. Seus livros A limpeza étnica na Palestina (Sundermann, 2016) e Dez mitos sobre Israel (Tabla, 2022) abordam esses temas e discutem as bases do “conflito” Israel-Palestina. Em 2025, lança Brevíssima história do conflito Israel-Palestina (Elefante) e The idea of Israel, pela mesma editora.
