Louis-Ferdinand Céline Nasceu em 1894, na França. Combateu na Primeira Guerra, onde se feriu gravemente. As lembranças do conflito inspiraram sua obra-prima Viagem ao fim da noite, considerada um dos maiores romances franceses do século. Autodidata, formou-se médico sanitarista. Foi perseguido pela Resistência Francesa, por suas posições anti-semitas, e exilou-se na Dinamarca em 1945. Em 1951 foi anistiado e voltou à França, onde morreu em 1961.
