Michael Archer nasceu em Londres em 1954 e estudou em Cambridge e Manchester. Contribui regularmente para Art Monthly e Artforum e faz palestras no Chelsea College of Art & Design e no Goldsmiths’ College em Londres. É autor de Arte Contemporânea — Uma História Concisa, co-autor de Audio Arts (1994) e contribuidor de Installation Art (1994).
