Kate Tempest (Londres, 1985) foi a primeira a vencer com menos de quarenta anos o Ted Hughes Award, que premia a inovação na poesia britânica. A poeta, rapper e performer é um dos destaques da faixa noturna da programação principal da Flip 2016, que reúne mesas ligadas à vida noturna, às artes do palco e à contracultura. Nascida em 1985, em Londres, Kate não demorou a surgir na cena da spoken word inglesa, primeiro como rapper, depois como poeta que faz do palco sua principal plataforma de expressão. Em seus discos (Balance e Everybody Down), coletâneas de poemas, shows e peças de teatro, ela combina elementos eruditos, como a poesia épica, com referências pop, em especial o hip hop. Essa mistura de registros poéticos e a atitude iconoclasta lhe valeram a fama de rebelde nos meios mais tradicionais da cena da poesia britânica. Na Flip 2016, ela lança a edição brasileira de seu primeiro romance, The Bricks That Built the Houses, ainda sem título em português.
