David Byrne nasceu em Dumbarton, Escócia, em 1952. É músico, compositor e produtor musical. Ficou famoso por ter fundado a banda Talking Heads, em 1974. O músico também compôs a trilha sonora do filme O Último Imperador (1987), de Bernardo Bertolucci, pelo qual ganhou um Oscar e um Golden Globe de melhor trilha sonora. Produziu diversos álbuns de música caribenha e brasileira (incluindo o trabalho com Tom Zé e Margareth Menezes) e um vídeo documentário sobre o candomblé chamado The House of Life (1989). David Byrne também é escritor - seu último livro publicado no Brasil foi Diários de Bicicleta (2009).
