Mariana Enriquez (Buenos Aires, 1973) escreve histórias góticas, de terror e de ficção científica, que se situam em bairros periféricos e lugares ermos da Argentina — semelhantes àqueles onde a própria autora cresceu durante a ditadura (1966-1973). Bajar es lo peor, seu livro de estreia, foi publicado em 1995, quando tinha apenas 22 anos. A obra causou um pequeno alvoroço e transformou Enriquez em sucesso literário. O segundo livro, As coisas que perdemos no fogo (2016), consagrou-a de vez como escritora. Este é o mar (2019) é seu título mais recente. Enriquez atua também como jornalista, contribuindo com diversos veículos argentinos.
