Kristen Roupenian (Plymouth — Estados Unidos, 1981) é autora de Cat person e outros contos (2019). O livro surgiu a partir da publicação e viralização do conto “Cat person” no site da revista New Yorker, e teve os direitos vendidos para uma adaptação para TV pelo canal HBO. A escritora é PhD em literatura africana, em Harvard, com pesquisa sobre questões pós-coloniais. Em 2003, mudou-se para o Quênia, onde passou dois anos trabalhando com o Corpo da Paz, ensinando saúde pública. De volta aos Estados Unidos, já trabalhou como professora assistente, caixa de livraria, repórter freelancer, babá e coordenadora de pesquisa em um hospital.
