BERTRAND RUSSELL

Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) foi um dos mais influentes filósofos e matemáticos do século XX. Além de eminente divulgador da filosofia e da ciência, foi também ativista político, posicionando-se contra a participação da Inglaterra na Primeira Guerra Mundial. Manifestou-se publicamente contra o emprego de armas nucleares e organizou, na década de 1960, junto com Jean-Paul Sartre, um tribunal para julgamento dos crimes de guerra dos EUA no Vietnã — o Tribunal Russell. Recebeu o Prêmio Nobel de Literatura, em 1950, como "reconhecimento de sua obra variada e significativa em prol dos ideais humanistas e da liberdade de pensamento". É autor, entre outros, de ABC da Relatividade e Introdução à Filosofia Matemática.
