MARTIN KEMP, formado em ciências naturais e história da arte na Universidade de Cambridge e no Courtauld Institute de Londres, leciona história da arte na Universidade de Oxford. É autor de Leonardo da Vinci: os maravilhosos trabalhos da natureza e do homem, que lhe rendeu em 1989 o Prêmio Mitchell. No mesmo ano foi curador da completíssima exposição Leonardo da Vinci, na Hayward Gallery de Londres. É organizador e co-autor de The Oxford History of Western Art, e atualmente se encarrega do projeto The Universal Leonardo, que reúne exposições e outros eventos na Europa para celebrar a vida do grande artista.
