J. M. Barrie nasceu em 1860 em Kirriemuir, Escócia. Foi jornalista e em 1885 se mudou para Londres, em busca de realizar seu sonho de ser escritor. Em 1903 começou a escrever a peça Peter Pan, pela qual alcançou grande sucesso. Faleceu em 1937.
