Leonard Mlodinow nasceu em Chicago, Illinois, em 1954. Doutor em física pela Universidade da Califórnia, Berkeley, foi professor no Instituto de Tecnologia da Califórnia e pesquisador no Instituto Max Planck, em Munique. Escreveu também para a televisão, colaborando em séries famosas como MacGyver e Jornada nas estrelas: a nova geração. É autor dos livros O grande projeto, Uma nova história do tempo (ambos com Stephen Hawking) e os best-sellers Subliminar e O andar do bêbado, sucessos de público e crítica.
