Wassily Kandinsky (16 de dezembro de 1866 - 13 de dezembro de 1944) foi um artista plástico russo, professor da Bauhaus e introdutor da abstração no campo das artes visuais. Foi também um dos artistas mais importantes na total reformulação da arte no início do século XX e pode ser considerado um dos pais da arte abstrata. A influência de Kandinsky na história da arte do Ocidente talvez resulte mais de seus trabalhos teóricos do que propriamente de suas pinturas.
