Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011) nasceu na Inglaterra e morreu nos Estados Unidos. Foi colunista, crítico literário e editor contribuinte de revistas como Vanity Fair, New Statesman e Slate. Pai de três filhos, escreveu mais de vinte livros e livretos, incluindo coletâneas de ensaios, críticas e reportagens, entre eles Últimas palavras, póstumo, no qual descreve de forma lúcida sua luta contra o câncer e como se manteve fiel às suas convicções apesar da doença, e Deus não é grande: como a religião envenena tudo. É considerado um dos intelectuais mais influentes das últimas décadas.
