Escritora, apresentadora de rádio, palestrante, doutorada em química pela Universidade de Cambridge, Gabrielle Walker já subiu em árvores na floresta amazônica, ficou presa em lava de um vulcão em atividade, desviou de icebergs na Passagem de Drake, Oceano Antártico e passou longos períodos no pólo sul. É considerada uma autoridade nos temas energia e alterações climáticas, área da qual foi Editora na revista Nature, antes de ser Editora de Conteúdo da New Scientist, onde atualmente é consultora. Escreve e participa de programas sobre esses temas há mais de uma década, incluindo a famosa série “Planet Earth Under Threat” na rádio BBC de Londres. Recebeu prêmios em mais de sessenta artigos publicados em jornais e revistas como o The Economist e a Natural History Magazine e lecionou na Universidade de Princeton como professora convidada.
Seus livros foram publicados em mais de vinte países e traduzidos em dezenas de idiomas. O primeiro, Snowball Earth, foi descrito pela Publishers Weekly como “um livro importante e provocante que é um prazer ler”.
