David Harvey é um dos marxistas mais influentes da atualidade, reconhecido internacionalmente por seu trabalho de vanguarda na análise geográfica das dinâmicas do capital. É professor de antropologia da pós-graduação da Universidade da Cidade de Nova York (The City University of New York – Cuny) na qual leciona desde 2001. Foi também professor de geografia nas universidades Johns Hopkins e Oxford. Sua obra foi apontada pelo Independent como uma das mais importantes de não-ficção publicadas desde a Segunda Guerra Mundial. É autor, entre outros, de O enigma do capital, Os limites do capital e Cidades rebeldes.
