The Jewels of Jean Schlumberger presents a broad range of Schlumberger's work, from his early designs for couturiere Elsa Schiaparelli to his famous creations for Tiffany & Co., where he worked from 1956 until his retirement in the late 1970s. It was while designing "fantasy buttons" for Schiaparelli's suits that he was discovered by legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland, who was impressed by his creative vision. Upon joining Tiffany & Co., Schlumberger redefined fashionable jewelry for America. His fantastic designs played with tradition, combining both precious and semi-precious stones with enamel, and drew freely from nature's treasure trove of inspiration.
