This is a catalogue of Francis Alÿs’ The Sign Painting Project, made between 1993 and 1997. Francis Alÿs was born in the Belgian city of Antwerp in 1959. He has lived and worked in Mexico City since 1987. Between 1978 and 1983, Alÿs studied architecture at the Institut d’Architecture de Tournai, before going on to undertake postgraduate studies at the Instituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia from 1983 to 1986. Alÿs has worked in the fine arts field since the beginning of the 1990s.
