The private estate of Villar Perosa, with 25 acres of gardens, and situated just north of Turin, has been home since the early 1800s to the Agnelli family. Since her marriage to Gianni Agnelli in 1953, Marella Agnelli has devoted herself to transforming Villar Perosa and its gardens into the showcase that it is today. Her own photographs, taken throughout the year, reveal the results of decades of close collaboration with landscape and garden designer Russell Page. The grounds offer a range of styles: Italianate formal gardens; a water garden with 11 interconnecting lakes; an English-style woodland walk; a romantic garden; sculpture gardens; and more. This work opens with a history of the Agnelli family and estate, and provides an insider's tour of the house and gardens, including informative commentary on the various plantings.
